DASNY MWSBE Registry and Contractor Prequalification
Administered by Dormitory Authority of the State of New York (DASNY)
Private consulting firm, not a government agency. We are not affiliated with any city, state or federal agency. You can apply directly with any agency yourself, and NYC and NYS M/WBE certification are free to apply for. We charge for our help, not for the certification. Official agency links are listed at the bottom of this page.
What this program is
DASNY builds for State universities, CUNY, courts, hospitals and other public clients. It has no single contractor certification of its own. Instead, small, minority, women and veteran-owned firms can join DASNY's MWSBE Business Registry, and for some projects DASNY prequalifies bidders one project at a time.
What it unlocks
Registry: direct Notices to Bidders on DASNY projects plus technical help. Project prequalification: a spot on the shortlist (at least 5 firms) for that project. Certified firms count toward DASNY's MWBE and SDVOB goals, set on construction projects of $100,000 or more.
Key facts at a glance
- Registry valid
- 3 years from acceptance
- State goals
- 30% MWBE and 6% SDVOB
- Goals apply
- Construction projects of $100,000 or more
- Certification

Can I bid on DASNY work?

You may qualify if
- Registry: at least 1 year in business, and you are an MBE, WBE, SBE or OGS-certified SDVOB
- Project prequalification: DASNY may review experience, past performance, financial capability, safety, bonding capability and key personnel
- Note: the Registry is not a New York State certification
These are screening indicators only, not a guarantee of eligibility. Eligibility is determined solely by the certifying agency.
Documents you'll need to gather
Most delays come from missing paperwork, not the questions. Here's what to pull together, organized by where you'll find it.
Common in DASNY bids
- NYS Vendor Responsibility Questionnaire (VendRep)
- MWBE/SDVOB Utilization Plan
- Diversity Questionnaire
- W-9
Project prequalification
- Whatever the project's Expression of Interest asks for, submitted on time
Typical preparation flow
- 1Get NYS MWBE or SDVOB certification if you qualify. DASNY only credits State certification.
- 2Join the DASNY MWSBE Registry and fill out a Contractor Connect profile.
- 3Watch dasny.org and the NYS Contract Reporter for bids and Expressions of Interest.
- 4Answer Expressions of Interest completely and on time (the minimum response window is 15 business days).
- 5Renew your Registry listing before the 3 years are up.
Where applications get held up
- Late or incomplete Statements of Qualifications are not considered.
- City (SBS) certification does not count on DASNY work.
DASNY manages construction at nearly every CUNY campus, so this is also a route to CUNY work.
